Interpretation

Before opening the destination

Input
A public domain name and a record type.
Source or vantage point
The public recursive resolvers named in the result, not every resolver or the authoritative servers.
Observation time
A live observation made when the lookup runs; cached state can differ by resolver and time.

Explicit handoff

Open DNS Lookup

The domain and record type are sent to ViWeb Tools only after an explicit handoff.

Submitted directly to ViWeb Technology. ClueDNS does not receive the value. The submitted value becomes part of the destination URL and can appear in browser history and destination logs.

Boundaries

What the result does not prove

  • A resolver observation is not proof of global DNS state.
  • A DNS answer does not prove that the application at the returned destination works.
